With an accoustic modem, the call is dialed manually on the telephone,\n and when a connection is made to the distant computer, the handset is \n placed in the cups, which have a microphone next to the earpiece, and a \n speaker next to the mouthpiece.\n \n When Matthew Broderick's charcter is 'wardialing' (calling every number\n sequentially in a telephone exchange) to try and find other computers,\n how does the accoustic coupler do the hangup, pick up and wait for dial\n tone, dial the number, and then move on to the next number?\n |
