You are correct that the gun used in the film was a Glock 17 9MM pistol. However, there is a Glock 7 pistol which is made sbstantially of polymer parts and thus will not be detected in a metal detector. They are illegal to possess in the U.S. and most western countries with the exception of law enforcement.

There is in reality and never has been a Glock 7. The original nitpick is correct. At this time, no firearm manufacturer makes a handgun that is not detectible by a metal detector. Guess what, bullets and brass cases are metal also. Besides, the Gun Control Act of 1968 only limits the importation of handguns based on physical dimensions, not on what they are made of. There is only one current production Glock not allowed for importation into the United States, except for Military and Law Enforcement use. That is the Glock 18, which is a select fire version of the Glock 17. This means it is classified as a machinegun and the manufacture and importation of new machineguns for civilian use was banned in 1986. Civilian's may currently only own machineguns manufactured and imported prior to the effective date of the ban in 1986.
