Nitpick Description

Submitted by Nitpicker : 22483
Movie : Jurassic Park III - 2001
Nitpick Category : Weaponry
Nitpick Number : 31260
Approximate time of Nitpick : first 10-15 minutes
Summary : NOT a 20mm grenade launcher.
Detail : That gun the mercenaries use to blow up the plane is the Barret M82A1 .50 Caliber Rifle, which means it's bullets are a half-inch across. It can be used for sniping or destoying lightly armored targets. It's very powerful, but certainly not a grenade launcher!

To be honest, I don't know what type of gun that was, but it was certainly not a Barret M82. The gun that those mercenaries used looked a lot like an M82, but look at the weapon a little more closely. The clip for the bullets is placed behind the gun's pistol grip and trigger, as in the "bullpup" rifle configuration. A real Barret has the clip placed ahead of the pistol grip and trigger. I think that it was just a made-up gun invented by the propmaster for this film. However, he might have used the shape of the Barret as a basis for his weapon, and built the prop weapons from real M82s'. As for the power of the gun, that's another question...

Thank you for correcting me. I'm pretty sure it is a M95. Or possible a specially made gun.
