Summary : Figherfighters don't need oxygen suits (Refuted)
Detail : About ten or fifteen minutes to the end, when they dressed up as firefighters and were going in the whole to shampoo the creatures, they snuck into a cave that led to the meteor. Well anyways, everybody else had to wear an oxygen suit to protect them but they wern't wearing anything when they snuck in but the fire coats. I guess they could stand the methane or whatever.

There is only so much in the way of foreign gasses that the meteorite could contain. Hence, I would assume that - like the creatures on the outside - the aliens in the cave had 'evolved' to be oxygen tolerant. True, it isn't explicitly explained in the movie, but the concept is explored through the plot development, and of course we do have the title of the movie to go by.
