Nitpick Description

Submitted by Nitpicker : 27851
Movie : Lost World: Jurassic Park, The - 1997
Nitpick Category : Historical Fact
Nitpick Number : 40773
Approximate time of Nitpick : 1/3 of the way through
Summary : Map
Detail : This is something I noticed when zooming in with my DVD player and studying the map in the trailer when kelly is looking at it. Isla Nublar is not even on the map. For some reason it is not part of the Las Cinco Muertes island chain. There are five islands without Nublar already. If Nublar was there they would have to call it Las Seis Muertes. The following islands were included on the map: Isla Matanceros, Isla Muerta, Isla Sorna, Isla Tacano, and Isla Pena.\n \n I translated several of the Island names. Isla Muerta of coarse means Death Island. Isla Sorna means Island Sarcasm. Isla Pena means Island Suffers. Isla Nublar (not shown on map) means Island to Dim. Maybe when all meanings are put together they mean something.

isla muerta should be isla nublar, that is, if the film makers wanted to remain true the the book (and the plot of the first film)

Matanceros on the map may mean "No Plant Island" or "Destroy Plant Island" (not as likely) 2 parts: I found translations on mata, matar, and cero mata - plant or shrub/bush matar - to kill, slaughter cero - zero, nothing, naught Tacano on the map may mean "Mean Island" or "Stingy Island" tacano - mean, stingy ex: You ~ thing = que tacano eres

I checked this out, Isla Nublar isn't in Las Cinco Muertes island chain. It is in fact closer to San Jose than Isla Muertes, Sorna, Pena, Tacano, and Matacero. (It's not Matanceros, but Mataceros. I checked that out too.)
