Nitpick Description

Submitted by Nitpicker : 19
Movie : Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade - 1989
Nitpick Category : Plot
Nitpick Number : 52
Approximate time of Nitpick : 3/4 of the way through
Summary : Safe passage for a penitent man? (Refuted)
Detail : When faced with the first of three challenges to reach the
\n Holy Grail. The clue for safe passage is given in the example
\n of the penitent man. Indy interprets this in the nick of time
\n to mean he has to bow. The problem is that bowing, or crawling
\n would not protect you from the blade that comes out of the floor.

If A penitent man kneels before God than why did do the opposite?

If you bow immediately on experiencing the "Breath of God", you are too far back for the floor blade. This is to keep you from approaching God.

Penitent Man doesn't Bow....

To be quite honest, you're wrong. "A Penitent Man KNEELS before God." If you're kneeling, the floor blade will go in front of you, and the wall blade above you...then you can roll (as Indy did) and find the mechanism to keep from losing your head...

He's not saying you CAN'T roll out of the way of it. What he's saying is how did he KNOW to roll out of the way of it. The penitent man kneels before god, yes, but he doesn't roll in front of him.
