When Tony surreptitiously returns home after pretending to leave, the phone starts ringing. Kit is afraid to answer it, thinking it's the man who's been threatening her, but Tony persuades her to pick it up. (This is a British telephone and rings more frequently than American phones, so it's been ringing very insistently the whole time.) It stops ringing while she and Tony are finishing their conversation, a couple of seconds before she actually goes to pick it up. However, when she picks it up, the caller is still there on the line. If the caller was still on the line waiting for her to pick up, the phone should have kept ringing the whole time. |
