Nitpick Description

Submitted by Nitpicker : 35504
Series : Stargate SG-1
Episode : 48 Hours
Nitpick Category : Plot
Nitpick Number : 1898
Approximate time of nitpick : Throughout the movie
Summary : What happened to the NID's DHD?
Details : \n In "Touchstone" (season 2, ep. 14) the NID guys escape by using a DHD in the back of a truck. Where did this DHD go? The SGC kept the StarGate that the NID agents used to escape [they used it to replace the one SG-1 beamed up to Thor's ship in "Small Victories" (Season 4, ep. 1)], so why do they need the Russian's DHD when Teal'c is stuck inside the gate?

An excellent question and nitpick, one brought up by many and had the writers address the issue in a later Season 6 episode called ''Frozen''.
\r
\r SPOILER WARNING
\r
\r The Stargate discovered in Antarctica is believed to have been the original Stargate deposited on Earth by the Ancients (the Stargate found in Giza having been brought by the Goa'uld). In addition, the Antarctic Stargate and DHD were believed to be among the oldest such devices in the galaxy. In ''Frozen'', they explained that the Antarctic DHD (seen in ''Touchstone'' and is the entire issue with the Nitpick) was very old and stopped functioning, as if it eventually ran out of energy or the mechanisms wore down.
\r
\r So presumably the Antarctic DHD stopped working sometime after ''Touchstone'' but before ''48 Hours''.
