Movie Mistakes And How To Spot Them!

Almost everyone on the planet has seen a movie. The experience may be great and has a lasting positive effect. On the other hand, there are movies that are given bad reviews. These bad reviews include a lame storyline, poor sound effects and simply put common mistakes that may just make a movie look totally dumb.

What then are some common movie mistakes? In most horror and suspense movies, ventilation shafts are commonly included in some scenes. Especially those scenes when the hero or heroine is being chased by the villains.

Ventilation shafts in the movies are always very clean, human-size friendly, easy to navigate, and seems to be sound-proof. But in reality, ventilation shafts are a big nightmare for people who are afraid of dirt and grime. Ventilation shafts are not regularly maintained through cleaning. Because unlike in the movies, these shafts are very thick with layers of dust and sometimes accompanied with some grease.

Another mistake about the use of ventilation shafts is that in the movies, there is no problem trying to fit in. In the movies, ventilation shafts are another alternative for an escape. If the door is unavailable, these shafts will provide the escape route. In some movies, it showed that these shafts can accommodate any human size. Passing through it without any difficulty. But in reality, most ventilation shafts are very small. Trying to squeeze in is a very dangerous thing to do. A person may find themselves very stuck and unable to get out.

One more common mistake about the use of ventilation shafts is that in the movies, it seems 100% sound-proofed. No matter what the person does, they will not get caught. But in real life, attempting to pass through a ventilation duct, which can be quite a difficulty, is a very noisy experience. A person will be easily detected with the slightest movement made.

Aside from the use of ventilation shafts, one more common mistake done in some movies is the placement of dartboards on doors. Inappropriate placing of these dartboards may very well result to an accidental injury. Sometimes, knocking is never done before the door is opened. And when that happens, it is highly likely that whoever enters will have a serious injury… a serious facial injury.

Fire sprinklers that go off all at once are usually seen in movies. When the fact is, fire sprinklers are not made that way. It only sets off at the point where the real fire is. Unlike in the movies, when a fire sprinkler goes off all at once, everything and anything is soaked in an instant. But in reality, fire sprinklers have their own sensors. Water only comes out when the heat temperature reach a certain point that a fusible link will break, and this signals the opening of a valve. Many times, traces are left behind for the viewer to see.

One more thing that is a common mistake in movies is the use of fake “meows” of cats. Horror and suspense movies like to use cats as an additional component for that suspense feeling. Especially for those scenes when the hero has to uncover something, coupled with a heart-stopping sound effect that is very creepy. Then out from nowhere, a cat will suddenly appear. And making a very loud “meowing” sound as if its tail has been stepped on. In reality, cats rarely make their “meow” thing. Because most cats have their own way of communication. Through the use of scent and body language.

The use of gold is another common movie mistake. Real gold is heavy. But in some movies, trying to lift the gold is done without any strain at all. It looks as though gold in the movies are as heavy as a feather.

To the highly experienced movie goer, these common mistakes are as clear as the sky. But then, there are movies in the past which had their own mistakes. And yet, they have turned out very spectacular and have made positive headlines. Another great resource is the Internet Movie Database site or IMDB.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Whenever a movie is made it surely comes with lots of mistakes as well. Some common errors are repeated in many movies. To accentuate certain natural movements in a movie, exaggerations are used for an extended impact. A single movie can have multiple movie mistakes

For instance the heavy objects in movies are handed over to each other as if they are some hollow cartons or made of thermo. The actors are not so perfect in their acting that they can actualy calculate there expressions as per the weight actually shown of the object. As a result the acting either becomes not up to the mark or becomes too much exaggerated. This surely gives a confused idea to the audience as they it does not look natural in any way.

Another common mistake is CONTINUITY. In many cases the appearance of the person, the positioning of the characters, or even the difference in th appearance of the place can give errors during continuity shots which can be rectified by the viewers but are hard or missed out during the editing is done by the production team.

Then comes the heave spacecrafts and their sound effects. As per the law of nature no sound can be heard in space. But still scenes where spacecrafts are shown moving in the space they have sound effects of passing by or their motors running. Best examples of such errors can be seen in movies like Star Trek and Space Odyssey.

When a scene is shown where the character is drinking something with ice cubes, the ice cubes are magically non melting for a long period of time or if they melt then there speed is unmatchable.

There is also error of the time shown in the scenes where a clock is a prop. Either the clock doesn’t move from the fixed time as it shows it has been stopped. Or if it does it is not in continuation.

The visibility of crew members or equipments while a shoot is under process is also a majorly common mistake found with possibly a drum set in the background. Just like the shadow of a crew member, or the mike held above the head of the character.

Factual error can also be seen in the movies based on history or geography. In such errors the story is not shown correctly if referred to the actual records. Such kind of errors misguides the audience.

Movie mistakes are vast in number. Some of them are done deliberately and some happen accidently. As a result the outcome is unnatural and does not satisfy the audiences. Rectifying errors in the movie is very difficult takes for the production team which is why being extra cautious also such goofs come out in some of the best movies of the time as well.
